Nick Czapla and Josiah Aguado took gold in the Men's Doubles Combined 8-10.099, the single division on offer at the CrossKourt Men's DUPR10, coming through a 22 team draw on a one day schedule. As the second seeds, they handled sixth seeded Chase Langford and Frankie Abate 15-9 in the semifinal to book their place in the final. What makes the win worth retelling is that Czapla and Aguado had never played together before this event, and their first outing as a pair ended in a first gold and a first podium together. The road there was not comfortable, with close wins over Gabriel Paul and Ben Asper and again over Jon Bradford and Konnor Barth, and a narrow loss along the way that they answered later in the day. On the other side of the draw, top seeds Adam Vartolomei and Ben Hall had to survive fourth seeded Bradford and Barth 15-13 to reach the final, a two point semifinal that was as tight as anything on the courts.
